If you havent heard of L-Arginine Plus, they are a pretty well know as far as L-Arginine products are concerned. We found that although L-Arginine Plus had most of the same ingredients and product benefits as the rest, it lacked a few ingredients that really made a difference in our sample. It’s interesting to note how just a few things can alter a core product. Let’s take a close look at what we thought in the breakdown.
Value – 3.1
A single 12.7 ounce jar of L-Arginine Plus will run you about $39.95, which means you’re pretty much paying $3.15 per per ounce. The 12.7 ounce jar can also be purchased in bulk at a lower cost per jar (3-jar and 6-jar packs). But you get the best value per ounce when you buy the L-Arginine Plus in the 6-jar pack so is with this that we calculated their best value. The 6-jar pack is $191.70 for 76.2 ounces which comes out to be $2.52 per ounce but because of their serving size its actually $1.07 per serving . That’s definitely a bit higher than we would like, but not too terrible at all. Let’s see what we get for that price:
Taste/Flavor – 2.6
It seems based on customer reviews that you can tell if a certain batch will be effective or not based on the taste. This assertion proved true with our sample, as well. We must have gotten one of the bad batches because there was a sour taste to it. We had a few jars as back ups, but really didn’t gain much increased flavor from them. Since L-Arginine Plus lacks D-Ribose, one of the body’s natural sugars, maybe that’s why the taste was poor. To be fair, we tried to imagine how it would be without the sour and settled on a grade point of 2.6. We would love to hear another view on the tast of this product, so please feel free to comment.
Nutrition – 3.2
While L-Arginine Plus contains most of the same ingredients as the rest of the supplements we have sampled including the 72 trace minerals, they are missing the D-Ribose and Grape Skin Extract. While D-Ribose enhances energy as a sugar stimulant, it’s omission isn’t as essential as Grape Skin Extract. Grape Skin Extra has several heart-healthy benefits like wound healing, heart disease prevention, anti-oxidation, and anti-inflammation properties, to list a few. It also has many other overall health benefits.
Extra Credit Points or Additional Grade Point Deductions
L-Arginine Plus has added a new ingredient called AstraGin which aids the absorption rate of L-Arginine and also used Xylitol as a sweetener has the side benefit of increased saliva production for healthier teeth. We’ll give them +0.1 extra credit grade points for the AstraGin and Xylitol, but have to deduct -0.1 grade points for inconsistency in taste and fulfillment. Most of the bad reviews we found online were related to product not arriving as described (ie, flavor inconcistency), shipping errors, or pricing errors and unfortunately, we experienced this. And lastly, we have deducted -0.1 grade point for a lack of variety in flavor. After totaling the extra credit and grade point deductions we gave the a -0.1 total grade point deduction.
I read all of these reviews and it’s funny how people say that there are “missing” ingredients. You ONLY want Arginine, Lysine, Glutamine and a low glycemic carrier. Anything else will not be absorbed by the body any way. Riboflavin, Niacin, Citruline etc., are all totally unnecessary. Synthetic forms of all non amino acid ingredients do barely anything. Arginine is ONLY effective in terms of BP and testoserone release at night time, on an empty stomach. Day time administration of Arginine and it’s supportive amino acids; Lysine and Gutamine, is not that effective. Adding citruline only triggers a shut-down effect, an overload protection mechanism that stops any L-arginine from being converted. There is still quite a bit of confusion about the exact function of NO in the body and how and what causes is. During sleep is the best time to absorb and convert Arginine.
How often do you take take this product
Steven,
I while back someone had the same question, after emailing the manufactures Sante Global (Manufacturer of Arginine Infusion) replied back:
For best results taking Arginine Infusion container says this:
To start off “Mix 1 serving (1 scoop) with 4 – 8 oz of water (depending on individual taste). Stir to dissolve. If water is very cold, mixture will take about 1 minute to dissolve. One serving (1 scoop) may be taken for the first week until your body is adjusted to Arginine Infusion.
There are several protocols for using Arginine Infusion depending on your needs and objectives. It is not necessary to take Arginine Infusion on an empty stomach or at any particular time. The l-arginine in Arginine Infusion is active in your body for up to 36 hours, so it has plenty of time to be absorbed. When you’re just starting, its a good idea to take Arginine Infusion with food. You may want to begin with 1 scoop per day. Take half a scoop in the morning and half in the evening. Mix it with enough water to suit your taste. For best results, it’s important for most people to build up to 4 scoops per day as soon as possible for an aggressive therapeutic dose. Once you have achieved your health objectives, you may want to go to a maintenance dose of 3 scoops per day but it is not necessary. Although Morning and Evening are convenient time to consume Arginine Infusion it is not necessary to take Arginine Infusion at any particular time of the day.
Hope this helps.
Hi,
Hi,
I’ve been on L-Arginine plus for three days. From an hour after consuming the first serving, I started experiencing feelings that resembel hot flushes but it’s more of a warm feeling across the chest, face, head and something upper arms. It’s not pleasent but also not an awful feeling.
I can guess why it’s happening due to possible increase in blood flow, but have you heard of this before? Thoughts/ideas would be apperciated.
Thanks
SC
Will this product help with erection being that it increases blood flow?
Yes, L-Arginine can help with erectile dysfunction by increasing blood flow. Here is one study.
I took L-Arginine Plus because my health provider provided me with some because of high cholesterol. However, the side effects were to much for my body so after a week, I discontinued it. However, I am still experiencing the feeling of my body feeling sick, it made my blood pressure go up so I have to take a blood pressure pill as a result.
Please I need your answer badly. I am having terrible side effects from L-Arginine Plus. I only used it for a week due to my cholesterol. I only used it for a week and up to now I am having these terrible side effect such as feeling like having a stroke.
M. Neal,
L-Arginine products do not typically cause this sort of reaction. L-Arginine improves your blood flow which in turn lowers your blood pressure. I would suggest consulting with the health provider that gave you the L-Arginine Plus to identify why you had this type of reaction and perhaps ask him if you should try another brand of L-Arginine. I have never heard of that type of reaction.
Good luck and sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
