Today we sampled and reviewed an L-Arginine product called ProArgi9 from Synergy WorldWide. This product is sold in two different sizes in which the smaller jars are less expensive if you buy them in a 3-jar or 4-jar pack. They also come in ‘Stickpacks’ which are single serving packets.
Value – 2.5
ProArgi9 comes in two different sizes: An 10.81 ounce and a 66.6 ounce jumbo jar. It also comes in ‘Stickpacks’ which are convienent when you are on the go. The 10.81 ounce can be purchased in single jars or in bulk at a lower cost per jar (3-jar and 4-jar packs). But you get the best value per ounce when you buy the ProArgi9 jumbo jar. It was with this jumbo jar that we calculated their cost per ounce. The jumbo jar is $225.00 for 66.6 ounces which is a bit more expensive at $3.38 per ounce.
Taste/Flavor – 3.1
Keeping in mind that we all have different preferances on taste, we found ProArgi9 to have a somewhat pleasent taste. But because ProArgi9 includes Xylitol as a sweetener, with a side-benefit of increased saliva stimulation for healthier teeth. This ingredient left a slight unusual aftertaste. ProArgi9 is available in three flavors, mixed berry, citrus berry and grape flavors. We were unsure what citrus berry tasste like as we did not sample it, but we were somewhat partial to the grape flavor. ProAri9 uses sucralose, so be careful if your body reacts negatively to this sweetener. After adding a few grade points for variety and a deduction for the slight unusual aftertaste, we came up with a grade point of 3.1 on Taste/Flavor.
Nutrition – 3.5
Regarding nutrition, ProArgi9 did well in this section. ProArgi9 contains L-arginine, L-citrulline, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin K and Folate (Folic Acid) traditionally found in L-Arginine products, ProArgi9 also contains Grape Skin Extract or Resveratrol, Red Wine Extract and D-Ribose. ProArgi9 did lack magnesium and the 72 trace minerals like iron, zinc, manganese, copper, flouride, molybdenum iodine, chromium, and selenium that some of the other L-Arginine products traditionally contain; In small doses, these trace minerals are important to your overall health. After considering all the nutritional value ProArgi9 contained, we came up with a grade of 3.5 for the nutritional grade.
Extra Credit Points or Additional Grade Point Deductions
Based on our findings, we added 0.3 extra credit grade points for the following: 0.1 for Xylitol as a sweetener since it helps your teeth, 0.1 For the variety of flavors ProArgi9 offers and 0.1 for offering the ‘Stickpacks’ for use when you are on the go. But we deducted -0.1 points for the artificial sweetener sucralose, as it has been shown to cause bowel discomfort amongst other side effects. Free shipping and a 90-Day Money Back Guarantee are also worthy of 0.1 extra credit.
I tried 4 cans of ProArgi-9+ I had no problems except slight low blood pressure at 3 scoops a day, 2 at night one in the am. I adjusted that to 1 and 1 . I do take a light blood pressure med. I just had my blood work done. My Cholesterol was the lowest I’ve ever had. First time my Triglycerides were normal, usually above 500 or cant read. My bad cholesterol was perfect and my good cholesterol raised. I take no station drugs, so I’m extremely happy. This is just me but with Dr. test results. I feel great. 51 year old beer drinker who eats healthy. I changed nothing to get the results. I ordered the jumbo jug and plan on staying on it.
Ed,
That is great! Thanks for the post.
Will this product aid in the libido department, i’m 56 and starting to have problems maintaining
erection…. is there any studies on that…
Eric,
L-Arginie does improve blood flow not only to the heart, but to the penis. With L-Arginine as an impotence treatment, many of users report stronger, firmer erections and more satisfying sex lives. Let us know how it works.
Her is one study that I found.
hi , i use freeform l-arginine and l-cituline. much cheaper and no extra ingredients to get in the way. Also, most company’s will be able to provide a certificate of purity. When asked, synergy would not show me any certificate and the use of sucralose in some of their prodycts is shocking . there expensive protein powders use isolated whey and soy! and sugar! also a lot of people react to xylotol.
I am probably a bit strange but actually like the taste of freeform arginine. do we really need sweeteners that mess with our taste buds and cravings? Would be interested in any opinions.
Zenzen,
I am impressed that you have mastered the taste of freeform aginine. I have a tough time with it but I would suspect that if taken enough, one might become immune to the taste. I have had a lot of readers complain about not only about the taste freeform but also about the taste of some of the L-Arginine products we have reviewed.
I would love to hear from some other readers on this topic?
Dear Mr. Zenzen, What are the other brands which may be cheaper and just as effective?
THANKS–not sure if Proargi9 is the only brand worth trying?
COMMENT: I have been taking 9 ProArgi + for five months. For the first two months I was told to gradually increase the dosage to 4 scoops per day. I was then told to stay on 4 scoops for 90 days. I have done this and my blood pressure has dropped to 128/67, a level I have not achieved in over 10 years. I would like to go on a maintenance plan. but don’t know what this would look like. Would this be three scoops per day, working down to two scoops per day for a few years? Or is this a lifetime commitment? I am diabetic and my foot neuropathy has appeared to be improving very very gradually. Thanks!
Linda,
In most cases L-Arginine is something that you will continue to take. I would continue to take the 4 scoops per day if you are seeing good results. If it was a Doctor that told you to increase to the 4 scoops per day, I would tell check back with the doctor or contact who originally gave them the directions for them.
Thanks for the question
Did proargi -9 plus help me to run faster?
I have not seen any studies that show that L-Arginine directly helps you run faster. L-Arginine improves blood flow and helps with the repair of muscle tissue after a workout.
I am not sure I could understand this. Does l-argenine thicken or thin the blood
L-Arginine does not thicken or thin the blood, it actually relaxes blood vessels which improves blood flow which would be similar to the effect of thinner blood.
I have been drinking ProArgi-9 for about 3 weeks,I am stating to experience lightheaded and headaches and dizzy spells is there a chance this one of the side effects…I do take medication for a seizure problem i had thirty years ago..and arterial fibrillation with i take atenonol for which is also good for high blood pressure…is there any interaction with certain medications i should be aware of…Thank you Sharon
Always check with your doctor when taking L-Arginine with other medications. Having said that, An L-Arginine supplement should not have negative effects when mixing with other medications. You may want to try a different brand of L-Arginine Supplement as we have had several readers have such symptoms as you are experiencing and switched to a different brand and the issues went away.
Good luck.
I tried ProArgi9 for a week now and in the beginning I had some diarrhea but that went away. But I do feel more anxious on it and really bad ringing in the ears? Not sure if I should continue it?
Ashley,
You may want to try a different brand as there are many out there. Many readers that have experienced mild side effect try anther brand and the side effects typically go away.
Does ProArgi help with asthma or arthritis, I have both so I am just wondering about it.
Toot,
According to the Mayo Clinic, Early research has suggested a lack of benefit in the use of l-arginine for asthma. As far as arthritis goes, L-Arginine increases blood flow to joints and different parts of the body but I do not know if an increase in blood flow would help arthritis.
Do you have an unsweetened proargi?
Barbara,
Sorry, we here at L-Arginine Reviews only review the L-Arginine products, we do not sell them. You would have to contact the manufacturer.
Hello Mrs Heart
I had read a lot of the reviews for ProArgi-9 plus but none of them explain how this product can help people with diabetics. Please provide me more information about it.
Thank you.
Jose..
Jose,
According to the Mayo Clinic “Early research indicates that L-arginine may play a role in reducing complications associated with diabetes. However, further research is required before conclusions can be made.”
It appears that it may but further research is needed. I hope this helps.
I have been taken proargi-9 now for 1yrs. When I take the product I tend to urinate every 2 hrs. When I don’t take it its 6-7 hrs . Is this harmful to me?
Jon,
Nitric Oxide in L-Arginine does help relax the smooth muscles which control urine flow. Does taking L-Arginine make you urinate more frequently or more volume?
We took the citrus flavored Proargi-9 for 3 months. They checked our blood pressure and a few other parameters. 3 months later they checked the exact parameters. Absolutely no change. But we didn’t like the taste so we switched to grape. Within a few days of starting the grape my wife started feeling listless and developed tachycardia. This lasted a few weeks so she stopped taking the Proargi-9. Within 2 days she was back to normal. As a result I stopped taking it as well. I have asked for my money back.
David,
Sorry Proargi-9 didn’t work for you. You may want to consider another brand. Thanks for the comment.
Yes it will help!! Debra H.
In reading your reviews on proargi9
+ I have found information that is not correct. The citrus berry has sucralose in it. That is the only flavor that has that in it. The Mixed Berry is sweetened with Xylitol and Stevia. The grape has an all natural sweetener of Monk Fruit. So you implying that all of the flavors have sucralose in it is incorrect. Synergy also does not have free shipping as of yet! The guarantee is 120 days, 100% money back. The loose bowel situation is for only a short term and then it goes away. It does not last, once your body has adjusted to it, and all of the toxins and other debris is cleared out of your body. I have taking it for 4+ years, and only had a small problem with that at first for about 2 weeks. We started with 4 scoops and have stayed on that since the first day. Sometimes we have taken up to 8 scoops a day, and have NO bowel problem at all. We have shared proargi9+ with several thousands and have changed many lives. It works. You have a choice in the sweetener!! It is also listed in the 2014 Physicians Desk Reference that all MD’s have in their offices. As the highest quality l-arginine supplement in the WORLD. Can’t beat that. Also the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida now endorses Synergy’s proargi9+. Forbes Magazine listed Synergy in their top 100 list of most trustworthy companies. Synergy/Natures Sunshine as #3.
Nancy,
Thank you for the good information. The one that we sampled was the one that has the Xylitol. Again, Thanks for the great information!
I have thick blood, I am looking at this l-arginine product, is this a silly question? I hope not. If you have unknown clots, could this trigger them breaking loose?
thanks Linda
Linda,
Great question. L-arginine does interfere with the blood clotting process and prevents unwanted blood clotting which is obviously a good thing. Blood clots are treated by prescribing a anti-coagulation agent which may also run the risk of having the clot come loose in the treatment process. I guess there is the risk when using l-arginine but there is that same risk with traditional treatments of blood clots. I don’t think it would be a problem but I would suggest you get the okay from your doctor first.
Thanks for the great question.
I have a 4.2 aortic aneurysm could this product help or hurt me?????
Debra,
First of all, always check with your doctor before taking L-arginine with a condition like an aortic aneurysm.
L-arginine relaxes the blood vessels and improves overall circulation. Additionally, there are some studies that have shown that the nutrient can improve the blood flow to and from the various arteries of your heart. As a result you may see a reduction of symptoms that are related to: Angina, or chest pain, Clogged heart arteries, Various causes of heart disease.
Hope this helps and make sure you consult with your doctor before taking an L-arginine product.
Need help..does this ProArgi-9 Plus expire, cause it to taste funny?
Maino,
I used to use ProArgi-9 Plus and if I remember correctly, there is an expiration date on the jar. When I used ProArgi-9 Plus, I never let it go past the expiration date so I wouldn’t know if it started to taste funny. I currently use Arginine Infusion and it does not have an expiration date but they do have a manufacturer date printed on the jar. I typically buy the 66 oz Jumbo Jar of Arginine Infusion which is a 3-month supply (if you use two scoops per day). I only use one scoop per day so it usually last 6-7 months and I do not notice any changes in flavor. I have found that other brands of L-Arginine will harden or solidify after a certain period of time but that is not the case with ProArgi-9 Plus or Arginine Infusion.
Have you noticed a change in taste in Pro Argi-9 Plus? If so, how old was it? We would love to know.
How does this L-Arginine product affect a person who has herpes simplex 2 virus? I thought folks were supposed to reduce L-arginine in their diets to help prevent outbreaks? Where can we find more information about this?
Sarah,
Studies have shown that Arginine does need to be present for the replication of Herpes Simplex Virus. Lysine (another amino acid) inhibits this same replication by competing with arginine. Since Arginine has so many good benefits to the body such as reduced healing time of injuries (particularly bone), quickens repair time of damaged tissue and can help to lower blood pressure, many people use it for these reasons. For someone with the Herpes Simplex virus, studies have shown that the key is the balanced relationship between Arginine and Lysine. Here is a good article the discusses that relationship:
http://regannaturopathic.com/2013/04/the-truth-about-arginine-lysine-and-herpes-simplex-virus/
I hope this helps.
I was told ProArgi 9+ contained nitric oxide. Is this true?
All of the products reviewed contain L-Arginine. L-Arginine is converted to nitric oxide, which relaxes the blood vessels thus improving blood flow in the body and lowering blood pressure.
Good day everyone. I am trying ProArgi9 Plus as I want to loose a bit of weight and start to feel better. Is anyone suffering from chronic pain and does ProArgi9 Plus make you feel better? I am also trying Liquid Oxygen drops if any one has tried any of these products, please let me know as I am tied of being sick all the time plus loose a bit of weight Thank You All and Good Luck.
Laurie,
I have been suffering with chronic muscle pain since 2003 and I have been taking ProArgi 9+ for over a year now. I have experienced no improvement in my pain from the ProArgi 9+. I have some other naturals that I use that help though.
As for ProArgi 9+ I am very satisfied and I prefer it over the 1 other brand I’ve tried (which is not reviewed here). The benefits I’ve been able to attribute to ProArgi 9+ is an improvement in ED, lower blood pressure, excellent blood vessel health as seen in recent CAT scans and improved recovery after sporting events. I’ve looked into the Liq. Oxygen drops and personally I think they are a scam. I know what you mean about being tired of being sick all the time.
Hi,
I’m looking through review of the Proargi-9 product because I’m experiencing considerable hair loss lately and have been using the Proargi-9/ for 6 month now to lower my blood pressure. I’m wondering if there would be any connection between the hair loos and this product.
thanks!
The hair loss issue most likely would not be from your L-Arginine product because Arginine should not cause hair loss. It should do the opposite. Since L-arginine boost blood flow which should increase hair growth. You might try switching brands for a while and see if that makes a difference.
Diarrhea is caused by one of two things: The sweeter can do it. Also, if your body is full of toxins, then diarrhea can result for a while as the body cleans out. Stick with it and it will stop.
I can now use any L-Arginine product and there is no diarrhea. But I prefer the grape for the taste and to avoid the fake sugar.
Some people also experience headaches. This is because the capillaries in the brain are getting rid of plague. It’s a very good thing. The headaches will go away within a few weeks.
Also, I that people get very lethargic when taking ProArgi9+. This was also a result of toxins being purged from the body. If you stick with it, you will start to see results.
Thanks for the comment Craig, very useful information!
Craig,
I’m sorry but most of what you’ve said here is hogwash. People come to this site looking for help and answers to real problems and to give them half baked propaganda is cruel. I’ve been studying L-Arginine for a couple of yrs now and just found this site today. I’m happy to report that the information provided by this site is very accurate and reliable. Don’t ruin it with these types of comments.
I believe it may be possible that the ProArgi9+ is healing your body to the point that you are overdosing on your other medications. Before you switch brands or stop using, I would suggest that you have your doctor check your indicators and see if your meds need to be lowered.
The above response was intended for an earlier post regarding someone who was also taking medication.
What I wanted to say to Brian Oleman is, I believe everything Craig said is true, from my own experiences with cleansing. If you think they are hogwash, you need to specify what exactly you object to and back your objections up with rationale.
I have been using ProArgi9 Plus for several weeks and have now developed severe pain in my leg muscles and my knee. Have you had other such complaints? Thanks!!
I have not heard of L-Arginine causing leg and knee pain. in fact, one of the reasons when to take L-Arginine is that it increases blood flow and helps to relieve muscle pain that is caused by injuries or after surgery to promote faster healing, and a reduced risk of infection.
You may want to try a different brand of L-Arginine and see if that makes a difference.
Mrs. Heart I have been using L-arginine for about 8 months. I had an appointment with my doctor who told me that I needed to lower my blood pressure. A friend referred me and I did buy l-arginine to help with my blood pressure. Now there prices are $39.95 I think for 12.7 oz. My question is do you sell l-arginine for a lower cost or a product close to that size amount or cost?
Tori,
Thanks for the comment. We do not sell L-Arginine products at L-Arginine-Reviews.com, we simply review the best products available on the market. If you are looking for the best deal on an L-Arginine product, the lowest price we have found is Agrinine Infusion Jumbo jar for $159.00 for 66 ounces which comes out to $2.41 per ounce (you were paying $39.95 for 12.7 ounces which is $3.14 per ounce). The link to that product is: Arginine Infusion Jumbo Jar. I hope this helps you out and thanks again for the question.
Hello! I would like to return, if possible, the product ‘pro argo 9 plus’. I have tried both flavors…. unfortunately, regardless of the amount I take I get terrible diarrhea.I have experimented with morning and evening times. Even mid day. I also took it for periods of times and still with this same negative effect. I’m sure this product probably works for some people but unfortunately not for me. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF A RETURN CAN BE MADE. THANKS!
I’m sorry to here you are having problems with the ProArgi-9 Plus. Unfortunately, we do not sell any of the L-Arginine products that we review. My suggestion is to look on your sales receipt or confirmation email and locate the company you bought it from and see what their refund policy is.
A quick update on your post. I recently had a reader send me an email stating that they too had some adverse effects in terms of bowel issues. They discovered that the issue was the artificial sweeter found in some of the L-Arginine products. They decided to try Arginine Infusion because it contains a natural sweetener called Stevia. After the switch, they said that the bowel issues subsided. My point is that I wouldn’t give up using L-Arginine, I would suggest trying another brand. I hope this helps and that you have better luck with another L-Arginine product.
Hello! Enjoyed your review. Each formulation of ProArgi9 is sweetened differently. Citrus Berry is sweetened with xylitol and sucralose. Mixed Berry with Xylitol and Stevia and the Grape with Monk Fruit. Both the L-Arginine and xylitol can have a laxative effect. Patients should start with a small dosage to see how they react to it, then gradually increase the dosage as recommended by their health care provider or as listed on the label. Some people never acclimate to the product. The ProArgi9 is an excellent product. I do cardiovascular assessments and I have tested people who use a variety of arginine based supplements. I have seen people respond positively on this product and not on others. But feel free to experiment and see what works best for you. As always, check your product labels. Have a wonderful day and good health to you!
Kevin,
Thanks for the insight. It is very helpful.
Synergy Worldwide has a 120 day 100% return policy. As it has been explained to me, try the product for 119 days. If you are not satisfied, return all empty containers and they will give you back your money.
If, in fact, the diarrhea is from the sweetener, I understand the grape flavor of ProArgi9+ does not use zylitol.
It’s doing great things for me. It has taken away hot flashes, muscle aches and joint pain associated with Menopause completely.
Karen,
Good to know, thanks for the clarification.
